India- the next superpower

On 15th August 1947, India became free from oppression. Since then, the people of India, who had till now dreamt of freedom, began dreaming of their country becoming the next superpower.
Their belief is justified, as for the past few decades, there have been great changes in social, economic, scientific and military aspects of the country.

So how can India be the next world superpower?

A superpower can exert dominance in the world. The Indian economy is the world's third largest in terms of Purchasing Power. India has Fortune 500 companies, the second-largest telecommunications market, fourth largest army, expeditions to the moon, mars and more.
But there are some issues that need to be addressed for India to become the next superpower.

1.     Wealth Disparity

The rich in India, keeps on increasing their wealth, whereas the poor keeps on getting poorer. Although a large number of people are brought out of poverty every year, unless the disparity is resolved, the dream of superpower might get hinderance.

2.     Infrastructure

The poor infrastructure is a big hurdle for becoming a superpower nation. India faces problems about land acquisitions, winning over segments of the population to go ahead with specific projects, flyovers etc.

 3.     Governance

India has leaders in every field and are heading some of the biggest MNCs. But the politicians are rated the worst among the democratic world having corruption, criminal, other cases against them, yet they keep getting elected into our government.

 4.     Population

India’s increasing population is a hinderance to its aim of becoming a superpower. The poorer parts of the increased population are deprived of basic amenities of life. There must be steps taken to control the fertility and birth rate by educating the masses.

5.     Religious extremism

India is witnessing a rise in religious sentiments. One must always remember that India is a secular country and has followed “unity in diversity” since ages. There must be steps to prevent the rise of unwanted religious sentiments.

6.     Education

The work towards education must be of primary importance as an educated community can only help push India towards a superpower. Education will also prevent most of the problems discussed earlier.

7.     Healthcare

There must be more spending on healthcare and all citizens must be assured of basic healthcare facilities.

8.     Border conflicts and International relations

India must maintain good relations with the international community and must also try resolve its disputes with its neighbouring countries.

9.     Media Apathy

The freedom of press must be ensured for a fair development. If most of the media are biased to a political party, the masses will be given biased misinformation.

10. Environment conservation

Last but not the least, there is no development without caring for the nature.

India had been a world leader since ancient times. If proper steps followed and the issues addressed, then India will once again be a world leader and regain its lost glory.
